You will be able to find the times and agendas for upcoming Carlton on Trent Parish Council meetings, and the minutes of previous meetings on this website. Members of the public are always welcome to come along to Carlton on Trent Parish Council meetings.

The council has set up an informal Whatapp group to circulate information such as flood warnings, planning updates and other items of interest to village residents. If you wish to be added to this group please contact any of the councillors.

PLEASE NOTE:

The September 2026 Meeting has been CANCELLED. 

There are 2 vacancies and the clerk has received apologies from the remaining 5 councillors meaning there are only 2 available to attend. By law, there must be 3 councillors present to be quorate, so the meeting cannot be held.

Agenda items will be carried forward to October, including considering any expressions of interest from those wishing to become councillors.

Two vacancies for parish councillors have arisen on Carlton on Trent Parish Council

Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm and usually finish by 9pm.

Your statement only needs to be brief but please include a little bit about yourself, why you want to become a councillor and what you think you can bring to the council.

The councillors will select 2 candidates during the next parish council meeting, to be held on 1st September 2026 in the village hall at 7.30pm. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to join the council immediately and take part in the rest of this meeting.

 

The small print!

To become a parish councillor, you must:

·       be a UK or commonwealth citizen, a citizen of the Republic of Ireland, or a citizen of another Member state of the European Union;

·       be at least 18 years old.

To be eligible to join Carlton on Trent Parish Council, you must:

·       be an elector in the parish of Carlton on Trent, or;

·       for the whole of the previous 12 months have occupied (as owner or tenant) land or other premises in Carlton on Trent parish, or;

·       during the previous 12 months have worked in Carlton on Trent parish (as your principal or only place of work), or;

·       for the whole of the previous 12 months lived in the parish of Carlton on Trent or within three miles of the parish boundary.

You don’t have to be connected to a political party.

If you do become a parish councillor you will have to sign up to the Code of Conduct.
